If you've been
considering Framework Math,
slightly intrigued by this approach to developing numeracy,
interested enough to see one of the workbooks up-close-and-personal, or
so committed that you've already jumped into one of the other books but now realize you actually do need to use the short-and-sweet version of the Foundations book as a launching point,
... this printer-friendly, black-and-white ebook (PDF) of the condensed version of Volume 1 is the easiest, lowest-commitment place to start.
This books lays the foundation for the rest of the series and should be used before any of the other 4 books.
This version is best for students (ages 7+) who may need a review of or introduction to subitizing, composing and decomposing numbers up to 100, combinations of 10, and place value, all with the use of ten frames and a Rekenrek.
This version uses games, instruction pages, hands-on activities, and subitizing flashcards. The complete, printed, full-color version also includes handwriting practice, additional topics (ordering numbers, comparing numbers, introduction to U.S. coins) and a dedicated unit on numbers 11 - 20.
